Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery Statement for Man and a Van Sutton
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the actions taken by Man and a Van Sutton to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. As a local removals and transport business, we recognise our responsibility to uphold human rights and to act ethically in all areas of our work.
This statement covers our approach for the current financial year and will be reviewed and updated on an annual basis.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Man and a Van Sutton has a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, child labour, and human trafficking. We are committed to conducting our business in a manner that respects the dignity, rights, and wellbeing of every individual who works for or with us.
We expect the same high standards from all who work with us, including employees, contractors, agency workers, and suppliers of goods and services. Any identified or suspected instance of modern slavery linked to our business will be treated with utmost seriousness and addressed without delay.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Man and a Van Sutton provides local and regional removals, transport, and related services. Our operations are predominantly based in the United Kingdom. Our supply chains include vehicle hire and maintenance providers, fuel suppliers, packaging and materials suppliers, cleaning and storage providers, and labour agencies where temporary or specialist workers are required.
Because of the nature and scale of our business, our supply chains are relatively straightforward. However, we recognise that risks can still arise and we remain vigilant in identifying and addressing them.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are committed to working only with suppliers who share our values and adhere to ethical labour practices. As part of this commitment, we are developing and implementing the following measures:
We set clear expectations that suppliers must comply with all applicable labour, human rights, and anti-slavery laws. Where appropriate, we request confirmation in writing that suppliers have their own modern slavery policies or equivalent measures in place.
We conduct proportionate checks on new suppliers before they are approved. This may include gathering information about their employment practices and, where relevant, reviewing any published statements or policies related to modern slavery.
We reserve the right to conduct audits or request additional information from suppliers, particularly where higher risks are identified. In cases where non-compliance is suspected or identified, we will work with the supplier to address and correct the issue. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to meet our standards within a reasonable timeframe, we will consider terminating the relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Man and a Van Sutton encourages all employees, contractors, and business partners to raise concerns about any issue or suspicion of modern slavery in any part of our operations or supply chains.
Concerns can be raised directly with management, through internal reporting procedures, or via any established whistleblowing channels within our organisation. Reports can be made confidentially, and individuals raising concerns in good faith will not suffer any detrimental treatment for doing so.
We commit to investigating all reports promptly and thoroughly, taking appropriate action which may include notifying relevant authorities and engaging with affected individuals or organisations to seek remedy.
Training and Awareness
We aim to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, particularly those involved in supplier selection, contract management, and recruitment. Training and guidance may cover recognising indicators of exploitation, understanding reporting routes, and knowing how to respond appropriately if concerns arise.
Annual Review and Continuous Improvement
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed at least once every financial year by the leadership of Man and a Van Sutton. During each review we assess the effectiveness of our existing measures, consider any incidents or concerns raised, and identify opportunities for improvement.
Where necessary, we update our policies, supplier requirements, and internal procedures to strengthen our approach. By continually reviewing and improving our practices, we aim to reduce the risk of modern slavery in our business and supply chains, and to play a responsible role in promoting fair and ethical treatment of workers.
This statement has been approved by the management of Man and a Van Sutton and represents our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery in all its forms.
